North Asheville Neighborhood History Program Finale

Pat Fitzpatrick, a North Asheville resident of 40 years, and an interviewer extraordinaire, will tell about some of the most interesting and surprising stories uncovered through the 2017 North Asheville History Project. A photograph presentation will be included, sure to bring back lots of memories. [If you haven’t been interviewed by Pat, you must be hiding under a very large rock!]
Joining us in the program will be four North Asheville residents who we’ve asked to tell a specific story that we thought everyone, North Asheville resident or not, would want to hear.

The North Carolina Room 2017 North Asheville Neighborhood History Project has been focused through the North Branch Library. Over thirty long-time residents ranging in age from their 50s to their 90s, have been interviewed by volunteers of the Friends of the North Carolina Room. The project also included a year-long search for photographs, letters, ephemera and architectural drawings that document the early residential communities of North Asheville. The geographical focus of the program includes: Beaverdam, Elk Mountain, Grace, Grove Park, Kimberly Heights, Lake View Park, Macon/Sunset Mountain, Proximity Park and Sherwood Heights.
This is a pilot project that the North Carolina Room will take to other library branches in Buncombe County, with 2018 focused on the Fairview Community History.
